作品「portraits」は、私自身が眼差しを重ねる事で生まれたイメージである。眼差すという行為は、他者を見ることだけではなく、触れようとする私自身の経験でもある。昨年はパンデミックにより、人に会うことや外に出ることなど、生活に制限が多くあった。その状況下で私は以前撮影した家族や友人など私にとって身近な人物たちのポートレイト写真をプロジェクターで空間に投影し再びフィルムカメラで撮影した。そうすることで、私は今会うことが難しい人物たちの像に触れようと試みた。何度も眼差しを重ねることによって記憶を再構築しようとする行為は、私の中に人物たちの記憶を少しずつ手放すことである。私は眼差しを向けることで他者に触れ、記憶を手放すことでイメージを生む。

The series of works "portraits" are images which are created out of the repetition of my own gaze. The act of gazing is not only about looking at other people, but it is also about my experiences that I try to get in touch with. Last year many restrictions were imposed on people‘s lives due to the pandemic such as meeting people and going out. Faced with this situation I decided to use portraits of people close to me, like my family and friends, which I had taken earlier. I projected them into a room and took a photo of the projected images. Through this process I tried to be close to the images of people with whom it is difficult to meet at the moment. The act of trying to reconstruct memories by looking at the images again and again, to me is like a gradual letting go of the memories of the people in my mind. I get close to others by looking at them, and I create images by letting go of my memories.
